Charlestown Family Dentistry is committed to protecting our patients and staff by using the latest in sterilization and infection control techniques.
The sterilization process includes:
- Removal of all debris from dental instruments utilizing the ultrasonic cleaner.
- Placement of all instruments in sterilization pouches.
- Pouches are placed in the steam autoclave machine for heat sterilization. Once complete, they are ready for use.
- All operatories are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before each patient is seated.
Routine biological monitoring of the office sterilizer is done on a regular basis to verify proper use and functionality. This aspect of infection control is recommended by such organizations as the Centers for Disease Control, The American Hospital Association, and the American Association of Medical Instrumentation.
